Early Childhood Educators can receive a pay raise of up to $2 per hour thanks to an investment of $5.4 million being made by the governments of both Saskatchewan and Canada. This raise recognises the important services they provide to families who need child care. The investment will help child care centres pay Early Childhood Educators better wages, which will help them find and keep Early Childhood Educators.
A wage grid for Early Childhood Educators is being developed, and the Government of Saskatchewan plans to implement it by the end of 2022-23, so the wage increase is a step in that direction. During the last week of September, child care facilities can anticipate receiving additional information on the ECE wage increase.
