Gull Lake Library July News

There will be so many fun activities happening this summer through the Gull Lake Library! Since TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC) was not able to happen last year, we are excited to be offering activities once more, although in a different format. There are still sticker and activity books as per usual, but the activities are in a “take-home” format this year. Please register at the library to get access to the activities. You can call 306-672-3277, email gulllake@chinook.lib.sk.ca, or stop by to register your child. Children ages 2 and up are welcome to join. There will also be a region-wide reading contest with two draws being held; the first one end of July and the second one the end of August. Also available are Creative Kits and Maker Space Kits available for pick up at the library. There will be a new kit each week this summer for all ages.

Date and place for our TDSRC StoryWalk is yet to be determined, but watch for more information on our Facebook page and posters around town. A StoryWalk® is a fun, socially distanced activity that places a children’s book, page by page, on laminated poster boards along a path or in a park. Kids and their families have the opportunity to enjoy reading a book while strolling through their community. This year’s story is, “The Thing Lou Couldn’t Do” by Ashley Spires.

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2021 Quilt Raffle. The book bag was won by Sandra Benallack, the lap quilt was won by Sherry Randall, and the large denim quilt was won by Jan Cooke! Our sincere gratitude goes out to Sharon Dahl, who very generously made and donated these items. Thanks also to Janet Wickstrom for her generous monetary donation towards our raffle. The money raised will go towards some upcoming improvements at our branch.

We would also like to thank Stella Countryman for donating the proceeds of her garage sale to the GL Library! And once more thank you to Sharon Dahl for donating some clear plastic carpet runner to protect our recently professionally cleaned carpets from mud (and now we are hoping for some rain to create some mud).

Don’t forget we are on summer hours and are closed Mondays until after the September long weekend.

Have a great Summer everyone!
