
Job Overview
Autumn House Independent Living Facility is seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Aides to provide essential support in a caregiving environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care settings, including assisted living and nursing homes, and will be adept at providing high-quality care to individuals with varying needs. This role is crucial for enhancing the quality of life for our clients and ensuring their comfort and safety.
Duties
Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
Administer medication according to prescribed schedules and guidelines.
Assist clients with mobility and transportation needs, ensuring their safety at all times.
Maintain a clean and organized living environment for clients, including light housekeeping tasks.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
Support individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments through compassionate interaction and tailored activities.
Document daily activities and any changes in client condition or behavior accurately.
Maintain documentation (Charts & Notes).
Report, observe (written or shift), and record physical and psychological observations/changes in client/resident condition (e.g., skin, mobility, vitals, glucose levels).
Maintain good communication skills with clients/residents, their supporters, and their doctors.
Assist in daily living as per the care plan (nutrition, personal care, & mobility).
Requirements
Previous experience in caregiving, home care, or senior care settings is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual.
Knowledge of dementia care practices is a plus.
Ability to perform cleaning tasks effectively while maintaining a safe environment for clients.
Familiarity with medication administration protocols is desirable.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and healthcare professionals.
A caring demeanor with a genuine passion for helping others, especially those with disabilities or special needs.
Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and schedules.
Education (Assets but Not Required)
First Aid
CPR
Food Handling Course
Personal Care Worker Course or equivalent (e.g., Continuing Care Aid Certification)
TLR (Transfer, Lift, Reposition)
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
