Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with owner Sohel (Sam) Haider and chef Sumit Anand of Gull Lake's newest business, the Empire Diner. Sam and Sumit have been working hard to get the restaurant ready for its grand opening this Sunday. Sam is looking forward to starting his business in Gull Lake, and Sumit is looking forward to cooking delicious food for the diner's customers.
Sam wants everyone to know that the restaurant is ready for the power outage and will still open as planned. Everyone is welcome to join Sam and his staff at noon for coffee and cookies. Once the power is back on, customers will be able to have a $12 Roast Beef Supper with all the fixings from 4 to 8 p.m. as the opening special.
Stop by the restaurant at 3390 Rutland Avenue and give Sam and his staff a warm welcome to Gull Lake.
