These four U18 AAA Wildcats (Olivia Kirwan, Sadie Keller, Alexa Kobley and Kyla Benjamin) all started their hockey careers in Gull Lake as Initiation Greyhounds and continued to play until Pee Wee as Greyhounds. All four girls started in female hockey as part of the Southwest Cyclone team, based out of Gull Lake and encompassing players from the Southwest corner of the province. They all took additional training with Platinum Star and Swift Hockey Co., in Gull Lake and organized by Gull Lake Spring Ice. It was a natural progression to start with the U15 AA Wildcats and progress to the U18 AAA in their hockey journeys.
The U18 AAA Swift Current Wildcats are comprised of players from the southwest corner and across the province and compete in the Saskatchewan U18 AAA Female Hockey League. The players live in Swift Current for the season, which allows them to bond, grow and develop as individuals. It is very special to have four players on one U18 AAA roster from a community as small as Gull Lake during one season. Competing at the AAA level takes commitment, hard work and a positive attitude, which Olivia, Sadie, Alexa & Kyla do everyday!
Small town, big dreams and hockey proud! Go Wildcats!
